<p><b>(592) Bathseba</b> ist ein <a href="Asteroid" title="Asteroid">Asteroid</a> des äußeren <a href="Asteroideng%C3%BCrtel" title="Asteroidengürtel">Hauptgürtels</a>, der am 18. März 1906 vom deutschen Astronomen <a href="Max_Wolf" title="Max Wolf">Max Wolf</a> an der <a href="Landessternwarte_Heidelberg-K%C3%B6nigstuhl" title="Landessternwarte Heidelberg-Königstuhl">Großherzoglichen Bergsternwarte</a> in Heidelberg bei einer <a href="Scheinbare_Helligkeit" title="Scheinbare Helligkeit">Helligkeit</a> von 13,0&nbsp;mag entdeckt wurde.
</p><p>Der Asteroid ist benannt nach der biblischen Figur <a href="Batseba" title="Batseba">Batseba</a>, der Frau von <a href="Urija" title="Urija">Urija</a> und später von König <a href="David" title="David">David</a>, die die Mutter von <a href="Salomo" title="Salomo">Salomo</a> war.

<div class="mw-heading mw-heading2"><h2 id="Wissenschaftliche_Auswertung">Wissenschaftliche Auswertung</h2></div>
<p>Eine Auswertung von Beobachtungen durch das Projekt <a href="Wide-Field_Infrared_Survey_Explorer#Zweite_Durchmusterung_NEOWISE_und_Stilllegung" title="Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer">NEOWISE</a> im nahen <a href="Infrarotstrahlung" title="Infrarotstrahlung">Infrarot</a> führte 2011 für (592) Bathseba zu vorläufigen Werten für den Durchmesser und die <a href="Albedo" title="Albedo">Albedo</a> im sichtbaren Bereich von 42,3&nbsp;km bzw. 0,19.<sup id="cite_ref-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-1"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Nachdem die Werte nach neuen Messungen mit NEOWISE 2012 auf 42,5&nbsp;km bzw. 0,16 geändert worden waren,<sup id="cite_ref-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> wurden sie 2014 auf 43,8&nbsp;km bzw. 0,18 korrigiert.<sup id="cite_ref-3" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Nach der <a href="Wide-Field_Infrared_Survey_Explorer#Reaktivierung" title="Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer">Reaktivierung von NEOWISE</a> im Jahr 2013 und Registrierung neuer Daten wurden die Werte 2016 angegeben mit 37,9&nbsp;km bzw. 0,15, diese Angaben beinhalten aber hohe Unsicherheiten.<sup id="cite_ref-4" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-4"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>4<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p><a href="Photometrie" title="Photometrie">Photometrische</a> Messungen des Asteroiden fanden erstmals statt am 6. Mai 1975 am <a href="Mount-Stromlo-Observatorium" title="Mount-Stromlo-Observatorium">Mount-Stromlo-Observatorium</a> in Australien. Die gemessenenen Daten zeigten aber keine Veränderlichkeit.<sup id="cite_ref-5" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-5"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>5<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Aus weiteren Beobachtungen vom 16. Juni bis 8. August 2002 am Goodsell Observatory in Minnesota wurde aus der während neun Nächten aufgezeichneten lückenhaften <a href="Lichtkurve" title="Lichtkurve">Lichtkurve</a> zunächst eine <a href="Rotationsperiode" title="Rotationsperiode">Rotationsperiode</a> von 6,571&nbsp;h abgeleitet.<sup id="cite_ref-6" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-6"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>6<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Neue Messungen vom 1. bis 28. Mai 2012 während acht Nächten an der <a href="Sternwarte_Belgrad" title="Sternwarte Belgrad">Sternwarte Belgrad</a> in Serbien erbrachten eine detaillierte Lichtkurve, aus der dann eine deutlich längere Rotationsperiode von 7,7456&nbsp;h sicher bestimmt werden konnte.<sup id="cite_ref-7" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-7"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>7<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p>Aus archivierten Daten des <a href="Asteroid_Terrestrial-impact_Last_Alert_System" title="Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System">Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System</a> (ATLAS) aus dem Zeitraum 2015 bis 2018 wurde in einer Untersuchung von 2020 mit der Methode der konvexen Inversion erstmals ein dreidimensionales Gestaltmodell des Asteroiden für zwei alternative Rotationsachsen mit <a href="Rechtl%C3%A4ufig_und_r%C3%BCckl%C3%A4ufig" title="Rechtläufig und rückläufig">retrograder</a> Rotation und einer Periode von 7,74700&nbsp;h berechnet.<sup id="cite_ref-8" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-8"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>8<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Aus den Daten von ATLAS konnte in einer Untersuchung von 2022 mit der Methode der konvexen Inversion noch einmal eine Rotationsperiode von 7,747&nbsp;h bestimmt werden.<sup id="cite_ref-9" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-9"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>9<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
